COVID 19: MINISTRY OF TRANSPORT PRESS RELEASE

As part of the reopening of Ivorian air borders and the resumption of domestic and international flights, the Minister of Transport informs the airport community, travelers and all the users of air transport, that a new system of traveler declaration has been established for all flights.

Therefore, from now on, travelers departing, arriving and in transit in Côte d'Ivoire, in addition to the health measures linked to COVID-19, will have to fill in a form, Statement of Air Travel (Déclaration de Déplacement par Voie Aérienne, DDVA). This form is available online, on the link: deplacement-aerien.gouv.ci

The Minister of Transport insists on the compulsory nature of this document which is required for the embarkation and disembarkation of aircrafts.

The Minister of Transport invites all potential travelers to comply strictly with these provisions, in order to allow safe air travel during this period of health crisis.

 

 

THE PRACTICAL MODALITIES FOR THE RESUMPTION OF INTERNATIONAL FLIGHTS

 

Following the reopening of air borders decided by the National Security Council (CNS) during its session on June 25, 2020, the resumption of international flights will take place in compliance with the measures in force since April 2020, as part of the State's health response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

 

1- Passengers

  • BEFORE YOUR ARRIVAL AT THE AIRPORT
  • complete the online travel form on the official government portal, deplacement-aerien.gouv.ci;
  • access to the airport is only authorized for passengers,  people accompanying  passengers requiring special assistance or minors traveling alone;
  • have your own pen, notebook;
  • check  your luggage weight to avoid their handling in the terminal;   
  • limit cabin baggage to the strict weight and size required.      

 

  • AT THE AIRPORT
  • wear a protective facemask before entering the terminal;  
  • wash your hands with a soap solution;  
  • go through the health check  carried on  by the National Institute for Public Health  (INHP), in particular comply with temperature control; 
  • be at the check-in counter at least three (3) hours before your flight departure; 
  • according to the marking on the ground, keep a distance of at least 1 meter between passengers during check-in, immigration , security control, boarding, disembarkation, customs control;  
  • systematically use the hand sanitizers available throughout the airport; 
  • passengers should not be met at the airport except passengers requiring special assistance or minors traveling alone.      

 

  • ON BOARD THE AIRPLANE
  • limit your movements on board;      
  • apply social distancing measures when the company requires them  according to the number of passengers on the flight;  
  • limit cabin baggage to the strict weight and size required:;
  • limit discussions.      

 

2- Airlines and their Flight Crews

  • reinforce ventilation, filtering and air circulation of the vertical air circulation type;
  • reduce movements in the cabin;   
  • manage passenger flows adequately and rationally by restricting contacts to a minimum, and providing sufficient information on airport procedures to passengers before their journey;        
  • clean and spray the passenger cabin and the cockpit at suitable intervals; 
  • have protective facemasks for passengers who do not have any;    
  • cabin crew should wear protective facemasks and latex gloves;   
  • ensure adequate physical distance between passengers when possible;
  • reduce or suspend catering services  on short-haul flights;  for long-haul flights consider offering food in closed, prepackaged containers;  
  • limit the use of non-essential onboard supplies such as blankets and pillows, so as to minimize the risk of interaction;
  • train cabin crew in the new practices to combat covid-19.      

 

3- Airport Facilities Representatives

  • equip airport staff with protective devices;   
  • systematically disinfect the trolleys after use;   
  • regularly disinfect public equipment such as chairs, elevators, security check bins, escalators, door handles, toilets, water fountains, carts, shuttles; 
  • install hand sanitizer distribution systems all along the passenger circuit; 
  • temporarily close the non-essential installations
  • display in a visible way the information on the new health regulations and the modified screening procedures; 
  • install plexiglas panels at the check-in counters; 
  • place markings on the ground in all public spaces to help direct passenger so that they stand one (1) meter apart during the circuit; 
  • install epidemiological support stations;  
  • install thermal cameras  for users; 
  • train airport staff in the new practices to combat covid-19.
