sMiles conditions

The sMiles program set up by Air Côte d’Ivoire is a frequent flyer program for regular air passengers. Its purpose is to award its members a credit of miles according to a pre-established scale and in compliance with the conditions and limitations set out in these general terms and conditions, based on the trips actually made on flights operated by Air Côte d’Ivoire. These miles may subsequently be exchanged for award tickets, excess baggage and other types of benefits in accordance with the conditions set out below.
Flights operated by Air Côte d’Ivoire mean flights to which Air Côte d’Ivoire flight numbers (HF) are allocated, whether these flights are operated directly by the airline or according to another formula (code share, etc.).

I – APPLICATION OF THE sMiles PROGRAM

  • Participation in the sMiles program is free and open to any individual aged 2 years and over, whose usual address is in one of the countries where the program is applicable and who is travelling on Air Côte d’Ivoire flights with published fare tickets.
  • Air Côte d’Ivoire staff and staff of travel agencies or tour operators travelling with free or reduced-fare tickets will not be entitled to receive miles for these journeys.
  • Anyone wishing to join the sMiles program and meeting the required conditions must do so at an Air Côte d’Ivoire agency or with their usual travel agent. Membership can also be done online on our website aircotedivoire.com.
  • Any person applying for membership of this programme is deemed to have read and accepted these general provisions.
  • Only one (01) account is required per passenger. This account cannot be assigned, bequeathed or transferred with any other sMiles programme account. In the event of duplication, the various accounts will be merged into a single account to which the member’s activities will be grouped.
  • An individual identification number and a non-transferable password are allocated to each member. The Member will receive documentation on the programme and will have a personal account.
  • Any change of address, name or any other information that may be necessary must be notified as soon as possible in writing, by e-mail or online to the sMiles service. The member guarantees the accuracy of all information provided and will be solely responsible for any erroneous or incomplete information.
  • Effective subscription to the programme occurs when the member’s identification number is used for the first time. The physical card can only be issued once the 1st flight with Air Côte d’Ivoire has been booked. It remains the exclusive property of the company, which reserves the right to demand its return at any time.

II – CONDITIONS OF APPLICATION OF MILES

1- The mile is the unit of calculation of the sMiles programme.

2- Miles are obtained according to the scale defined for each journey made on Air Côte d’Ivoire flights or those of our partners.

3- A personal account is opened for each member, to which the miles earned are credited. This account, as well as the miles obtained by the member, may under no circumstances be transferred, bequeathed or combined with the account or miles of any other person, whether or not they are participating in this programme.

4- A statement of miles credit is sent by e-mail to the member on a quarterly basis.

5- These provisions apply individually and under no circumstances may members of the same family or company accumulate miles on the same account number.

6- Miles may not be awarded to a member travelling on a free ticket or benefiting from a free service.

7- Miles may be credited to the member’s account for flights and/or services prior to the member’s date of enrolment within a period of 6 months.

8- Miles may not be awarded to a member if Air Côte d’Ivoire flights are cancelled for reasons beyond the control of the carriers (including internal or external strikes, security reasons or force majeure).

9- Each member must personally ensure that the miles they have earned have been credited to their account. If the member claims that the miles have not been credited to his/her account even though he/she has complied with the reporting procedures, he/she must send the sMiles service all supporting documents (copy of boarding pass, reservation/ticket number) within 12 months of the date on which the flight was taken. If the claim is justified, the miles will then be credited.

10- Air Côte d’Ivoire reserves the right to award additional miles on the occasion of specific promotional campaigns brought to the attention of the member in due course.

11- Miles obtained at the end of a trip are valid for 5 years (N+5 end of month) from the date of the trip, unless otherwise communicated to members. Miles earned by the member will be lost if, for any reason whatsoever, the member is unable to take part in the programme. No other person, whatever their title or relationship to the member, may claim these miles.

12- Lost, unused, reimbursed or expired tickets and vouchers do not give entitlement to any miles credit.

III – AWARDS

1- sMiles rewards consist of one-way or round-trip tickets in Economy or Business class, excess baggage allowances of 10 kg that can be accumulated 3 times, access to the VIP lounge, payment of penalty fees, and any other reward designated for this purpose by the airline or by our partners.

2- Members can benefit from the reward of their choice provided they have sufficient credit on their account statement. They can request this award via their online account, at an Air Côte d’Ivoire branch by completing and signing the award request form or by contacting sMiles customer service by email.

3- Only the member is authorised to make an award request. If the member is a minor, the premium application must be signed by the legal guardian. Once the request has been processed, the miles used will be deducted from the initial credit.

4- All awards are granted subject to availability and in compliance with the restrictions imposed by Air Côte d’Ivoire. The company may occasionally impose a period during which no award is available.

5- The miles required to obtain an award will be debited from the member’s account in accordance with the scale in force on the date of the request.

6- Reward tickets

6-1 The award ticket is issued to the member and/or any person of his/her choice. The request must be made at least 48 hours before the departure date exclusively to an Air Côte d’Ivoire agency. Once the ticket has been issued, a change of beneficiary and/or destination will not be authorised under any circumstances. However, once the ticket has been issued, the 1st date change is free of charge. Beyond this, a fee of 30,000 FCFA will apply per change on the regional network and 5,000 FCFA on the domestic network during the period of validity of the award.

Any flight cancellation initiated by Air Côte d’Ivoire will require a new reservation.

6-2 The ticket will be issued once the reservation has been confirmed, in the class allocated to Award Tickets and subject to seat availability.

6-3 Once issued, the travel reward is non-transferable and indivisible and may under no circumstances be redeemed for cash, replaced in the event of loss, destruction or theft, or awarded retroactively.

6-4 Award tickets are valid for 3 months from the date of travel. Upgrades during the flight are not permitted.

6-5 These tickets may be made available to the member at the desired Air Côte d’Ivoire agency or representation, or sent by email.

6-6 The recipient of the award ticket is solely responsible for the payment of any fees or taxes applicable to transport. These vary depending on the country and airport.

6-7 The issue of an award ticket to a passenger who can justify a category discount can in no way imply a reduction in the miles required to obtain it.

6-8 To travel with a child under the age of two, the adult travelling on an Award ticket must make a reservation for the baby, under the airline’s fare conditions.

6-9 Award Tickets may not be used for transport on medical stretchers or to benefit from an additional seat.

7- Excess baggage

7-1 Requests must be made at least 48 hours before the date of travel, exclusively with an Air Côte d’Ivoire agency. On departure from Abidjan, it can be made on the day of the flight at the airport agency. The premium may be established in favour of the member and/or any person of his/her choice.

7-2 The granting of the premium applies in addition to the deductible authorised for the class of travel paid and for one-way journeys.

7-3 The member may benefit from the excess baggage allowance by presenting the allowance certificate at the same time as his/her flight ticket. A maximum of 30kg of excess baggage per flight and per member will be accepted on Air Côte d’Ivoire.

7-4 Excess baggage is valid for one (1) month from the date of issue of the certificate. Once the certificate has been issued, only one change to the departure date will be authorised, within the period of validity of the premium.

7-5 The excess baggage allowance cannot be combined with an award ticket.

7-6 The excess baggage reward will not be accepted for special baggage or for the carriage of animals.

8- Access to the VIP lounge

8-1 The request must be made exclusively to an Air Côte d’Ivoire agency at least 48 hours before the journey. For flights departing from Abidjan, it can be made on the day of the flight at the airport agency.

8-2 Only the member can benefit from the VIP lounge access award by presenting the award certificate at the same time as his/her flight ticket

8-3 The lounge access reward can be combined with an award ticket or excess baggage.

9- Payment of penalty fees

9-1 The request must be made exclusively to an Air Côte d’Ivoire agency at least 48 hours before the journey.

9-2 Only the member can benefit from the penalty fee payment bonus.

9-3 The bonus cannot be combined with any other bonus.

IV – CONFIDENTIAL INFORMATION AND LIABILITY

1- All Air Côte d’Ivoire air awards may only be used on Air Côte d’Ivoire.

2- Air Côte d’Ivoire reserves the right to limit the possibility of travelling on presentation of an award ticket during specific periods and/or on specific flights.

3- Due to the limited number of seats reserved for award travel, members are advised to book as early as possible, making sure to mention their sMiles membership.

4- Any member noticing the loss and/or theft of his/her sMiles card must immediately inform the loyalty department in writing. The 1st replacement will be made free of charge and 100 miles will be deducted from the member’s account for each subsequent replacement. Air Côte d’Ivoire declines all responsibility for the fraudulent use of the lost and/or stolen card.

5- Air Côte d’Ivoire reserves the right to refuse membership to any person who does not meet the criteria for participation in the sMiles programme.

6- Air Côte d’Ivoire reserves the right to exclude from the sMiles programme any member who has made improper use of the privileges granted to him/her under the programme, has made false declarations, has breached one of the conditions of application defined in these regulations, particularly with regard to the conditions of eligibility, credits or the use of awards granted, or has not accumulated miles for 36 months.

7- Air Côte d’Ivoire reserves the right to expand its programme by integrating partners. It will then inform members of the integration and of the conditions governing the relationship between sMiles and its new partners.

8- Air Côte d’Ivoire reserves the right at any time to demand proof of mileage accumulation and to audit all accounts without prior notice to members, in order to ensure compliance with the rules and general conditions of the programme.

9- Air Côte d’Ivoire reserves the right to modify at any time and without notice the present programme (rules, conditions of participation, total or partial value of miles acquired, duration of validity of miles, obtaining of awards, scales of awards, etc.) within the framework of the texts in force.

10- Air Côte d’Ivoire reserves the right to debit the account of any member having unduly credited miles. In addition, members may only have their account credited once per flight.

11- Any member of the sMiles programme thereby accepts the use by Air Côte d’Ivoire of all data in its possession concerning him/her for direct marketing and communication purposes. This personal data may also be exchanged in complete confidentiality between Air Côte d’Ivoire and its partners for direct cross-marketing purposes and/or for the purpose of offering new services as part of the sMiles programme.

12- Air Côte d’Ivoire reserves the right to cancel this programme with 3 months’ notice to members. In the event of cancellation of the programme, the award remains usable for 12 months following this cancellation. After this date, unused miles and rewards will be definitively lost.

13- The member is entitled to no longer participate in the programme. In this case, they must notify the sMiles department in writing and return their card. Miles credited to the member’s account will no longer be usable once the member has left the programme.

14- Air Côte d’Ivoire declines all responsibility for damage caused during the use of an award (excluding damage caused during transport for which the carrier’s responsibility is governed by the Warsaw Convention), whether or not the award is used by the participant or by third party beneficiaries.

15- In the event of any discrepancy in the interpretation of the general conditions of this programme, Air Côte d’Ivoire shall be the sole interpreter. Ivorian law alone will be applicable for the execution of this contract and the courts of Abidjan will have sole jurisdiction to settle any dispute concerning this programme.
